Ivar Noordstra
Dr Ivar Noordstra is a postdoctoral researcher in the lab of Prof Alpha Yap at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, University of Queensland. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree at Saxion University of Applied Sciences and his Master of Science degree at Utrecht University, both in the Netherlands. Subsequently, Ivar started his PhD in the lab of Prof Anna Akhmanova at Utrecht University, where he studied the role of microtubules in cell migration, morphogenesis and metabolism. After obtaining his PhD in 2017 and supported by an EMBO long-term fellowship, Ivar joined the lab of Prof Alpha Yap at IMB in 2018. His current work focusses on the molecular mechanisms underlying epithelial biology. By combining a wide variety of cellular models with state-of-the-art microscopy techniques, he aims to understand the spatiotemporal regulation of molecules during the formation of epithelial cell-cell junctions.
